March Family Newsletter

March 9, 2022

Hello Pan American families!

March has introduced us to some beautiful Spring-like days and yet does not entirely let go of the Winter-like weather. It is a good reminder that we should not pack away all of our winter clothing just yet.

Week of March 21st through March 24th

March 22nd, 23rd & 24th

Friday, March 25th NO School for students!

Wellness Wednesday

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major effect on our lives. Staff, students and families are facing challenges that can be stressful, overwhelming, and cause strong emotions in adults and children.  Therefore we will continue Wellness Wednesday and dismiss at 12pm for the rest of the school year.

Pan American has implemented a few programs as a result COVID-19 to help support the social-emotionl effects of the Pandemic .  We offer the following to help support students and staff:

We hope these programs and strategies will help staff and students develop self-awareness and self-management skills to cope with the effects of the Pandemic.

Health & Safety Plan:

We will continue with universal masking. We will provide updates to our Health & Safety Plan after our March 21st board meeting. Stay tuned for those updates.

Quarantined Students:

Any students that are quarantined are welcome to sign into our office hours Monday, Wednesday or Friday for support with assignments. Please see ClassDojo for detailed information regarding these office hours.

Petition To Oppose Charter School Regulations – Charter Schools Need Your Help

Help us oppose Governor Wolf’s regulations.  Governor Wolf’s Education Department has proposed regulations that threaten the future of our schools!  Charter schools are public schools, free and open to all. A vote on these regulations is scheduled for Monday, March 21st and we need to show that the charter school community strongly opposes the new mandates.

These regulations:

  1. Make it harder for public charter schools to be approved for renewal even when they meet all the academic standards.
  2. Give more power to the school districts that oversee charter schools, even though these same districts have been failing students for years.
  3. Make it almost impossible to open a new public charter school.

We are asking families to take action by Wednesday, March 16th.  You can find more information about the regulations here and you can click here to sign the petition. Thank you for your help!

We are appreciative of your support. Stay well!
