Jake Becker

Jake is grateful to serve on several local boards including Pan American Academy Charter School. Jake serves as Managing Director at Public Health Management Corporation, leading the city-wide community health center program, which includes the Congreso Health Center. Jake grew up in the Olney section of Philadelphia, graduating from Central High School (257). After earning his BA in Urban Studies and MSEd at the University of Pennsylvania, he served as a middle school teacher for several years at Timothy Academy, which had been located just a couple blocks from Pan American. While earning his MBA in urban economic development at Eastern University, he began serving at Esperanza Health Center, which is committed to the Latino community of North Philadelphia. He worked at EHC for over eight years, first as the director of the HIV/AIDS services, then as Finance Director, and later as Chief Administrative Officer.

Jake served for nine years as Head of School at The City School, leading the nationally-recognized urban Christian school through a series of transformations to grow student enrollment and strengthen the mission. Jake has taught in the university setting in the following subjects: sociology, US history, financial management, community organizing, leadership and organizational dynamics, and urban studies. Jake is currently studying for his doctorate in education at Temple University. He loves his family, Philly sports, and walking the dogs.
