Welcome Back

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! We are excited to start our 15th school year!  While the past few years have been challenging for our school community, we continue to push forward by being Caring, Accountable, Respectful and Engaging.  We CARE!  We look forward to returning this school year with a sense of normalcy and bring you this newsletter to share information and updates.

Our Staff

Our dedicated staff has been busy preparing classrooms and gathering resources to support instruction for our students. To ensure a great start for each student, we have spent time analyzing student performance data, identifying successful strategies for teaching, and reaffirming our commitment to set high expectations and opportunities for our students. Please know that we are committed to the education and success of each child and seek to nurture a strong partnership between home and school.

Coffee will be provided for the in person days. Join us for an opportunity to share ideas, get involved, and discuss any topics.

Uniforms
Our school uniform has been updated with two new optional items. Students may now wear hoodies and gym shorts, which are available for purchase at Cramers Uniforms.  Our school uniform requirements have also been updated to reflect what students can wear in grades K-4 and in grades 5-8.   In order to comply with our uniform policy, hoodies and gym wear without the school logo will not be permitted.  You may view our full uniform list on their website, as well as  buy uniforms online, or visit or call Cramers Uniforms located at 4628 Frankford Avenue Philadelphia , PA 19124 (215) 743-0750.

Flat Rate Program

The School District of Philadelphia launched the Flat Rate Program  last year to provide a monthly payment to eligible parents who chose to opt out of school-issued transportation and instead drive or have their child(ren) driven to and from school.  The Flat Rate Program has been renewed for another year. All registered families will receive $300 per month ($3,000 for the school year) for transporting their child to and from school or $150 per month ($1,500 for the school year) to transport their child to school in the morning, but still use school transportation in the afternoon. This payment is made per household not per student.

If you did not take advantage of the first enrollment period of the Flat Rate program, you may enroll in the second enrollment period which ends on September 30.  All families that would like to participate must submit an Enrollment Form.  If you participated in the program last year and would like to continue in the Flat Rate program, you must re-enroll by submitting the Enrollment Form.

Keeping in Touch

We have learned that there are many ingredients for success but one stands out above the rest – great communication.  We have made communication an integral part of our plan and we will continue to do so.  We want you to stay active in your child’s academic progress and in the know about happenings at PAACS. Athletics for 5th – 8th grade

If your child is interested in participating in sports, all students must have a completed PIAA Form filled out and signed by a medical professional.   All PIAA Forms for the upcoming school year can be found below:

Currently, the athletic league only allows students in 5th through 8th grade to participate due to regulations.  If your child is interested in participating in any of the sports listed below, please print the PIAA forms and have your doctor complete them before September 6th. This form is mandatory and students without a fully completed form will not be allowed to participate in any sports.  A doctor must complete section 7.  A yearly physical form will not be accepted and is not a substitute for the PIAA form.
