A Recent Loss to our School Community

October 27, 2022

It is with deep sadness that we inform you about a recent loss to our school community. On October 27th, second grade student Isabella Rivera died as a result of injuries caused by a house fire. Isabella was a sweet, funny, happy and playful girl. She loved to dance, learn, and play with toys. She loved being with her friends and playing hide and seek with the front office staff when she arrived.

This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school community, especially our students. We have a school-based team of counselors who will be available to help students, parents and school staff to help at this difficult time. We also have a partnership with the Uplift Center for Grieving Children. Their staff and counselors will be assisting our school-based team to meet the needs of our students.

Our school-based team will be visiting each classroom on Friday to speak with the students about this loss and to offer support. We encourage you as parents to talk with your child at home. Here is a LINK to the Uplift resources that may be helpful in supporting your child at home. If you have any questions about how to support your child or feel that your child may need extra support at school, please email studentservices@panamcs.org.

As a school community, we are committed to supporting the family of Isabella Rivera. To make a contribution to help this family, please click the DONATE link on our website. Select ‘Help a Family in Need’ from the drop-down menu. All funds collected will go directly to supporting Isabella’s family.

We are saddened by the loss to this family and to our school community and will make every effort to help you and your child as you need.
